What is the purpose of this project?
Israel Food Basket” was founded in order to enable people to take a meaningful part in providing food for the needy of Israel, by creating customized food packages to deliver directly to their homes.
“Israel Food Basket” adds an extra element to the giving experience; the donor isn’t just giving the money but personally choosing the food items the family will receive. In this way, the donor feels a deeper emotional connection with his/her act of tzedakah.
The food package is delivered directly to the family’s home by the regular supermarket deliverymen, in the same bags and boxes. The deliverymen have no idea that they are bringing food to a needy family – nor will the next-door neighbors realize.
Israel Food Basket is operated by the Kupa Shel Tzedakah of Ramat Beit Shemesh, which is under the direction and leadership of the city rabbanim, in accordance with established criteria. We ensure that every food basket (like all other assistance provided by the Kupa) reaches a family that is truly in need
Yes. The default option is for the basket to be delivered directly to the family’s home, and includes the delivery fee. You can choose the self-pickup option when donating your basket, but realize that the best way to give the food in a dignified and discreet manner is to have it delivered to the family’s doorstep.
It is certainly possible – and preferable! When completing your food basket purchase, simply check off the option to make this an ongoing donation, and select how often you’d like to donate – once a week or once a month – as well as the total number of baskets you’d like to send, to warm the hearts of a needy family.
